The Massachusetts Broadband Institute (MBI) is leading Statewide Broadband and Digital Equity planning and launching grant programs as part of the national Internet for All effort. This spring, MBI will take the next step in accessing $147 million in Broadband Equity Access and Deployment (BEAD) funds by administering a Challenge Process, a statewide effort to collect information on internet availability from residents and stakeholders. The Challenge Process is intended to improve the accuracy of the Federal Communication Commission's (FCC) National Broadband Map, which will be used to inform funding eligibility for the program. The stakes are high, and this is an important moment to engage communities.

At this webinar, library representatives will learn:

  • Why the Challenge Process is important to libraries;
  • The process of submitting internet availability challenges;
  • How organizations can get involved; and
  • The anticipated timeline of the Challenge process broadband.
